I find it amusing when science is okay for everything, except where it comes into the conflict with the church. The catholic church has done a lot to sidestep the creation, intelligent design, evolution issue. Of course the bible is right, but so is Darwin, but ID seems okay too. I guess they got burned with that whole earth being flat thing that they don't have the balls to concretely make up their mind. Really, it's all about keeping butts in the pews. I think in the next 20 years, catholicism will be the believe whatever you want and go to heaven religion.

Religion and science have always been uncomfortable bedfellows. Religions love taking advantage of scientific advances while at the same time standing in the way of progress. Galileo and stem cells anyone? They would love nothing more than science to prove their beliefs, but when it doesn't it is flawed. In other words, they want it both ways.
